Kiribati (pronounced Kiribas) is part of Micronesia and is the only country that is scattered in 4 hemispheres. It is made up of 33 remote coral islands including the immense atoll Kiritimati. Part of the world’s largest marine protected area - the low lying atolls of Kiribati are surrounded by spectacular coral reefs and aquamarine lagoons. Perfect for snorkelling, fishing, scuba diving and all barely six metres below sea level. The deeper waters off the coast are great for record breaking game fishing. Experienced surfers can head to Fanning Island for outstanding year round surf breaks or to Kiritimati for a remote 5 km stretch of perfect surf. Or just explore the outer islands for a taste of untouched local culture and traditions.
